11 Bible Verses :: Marriage

A little over 4 months ago I married my best friend, my prince charming, my forever person! During the 9 months of planning + our pre-cana marital counseling I came across some of the best bible verses about marriage. Just a few reminders of those special vows said on our (+ your) wedding day and a few verses to help guide us (+ you) through the ups and downs.

  1. Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. — Ecclesiastes 4:12
  2. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” — Genesis 1:27-28
  3. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” — Mark 10:7-9
  4. Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has give you under the sun, all the days of vanity. — Ecclesiastes 9:9
  5. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8
  6. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. — Ephesians 4:32
  7. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. — Proverbs 3:5-6
  8. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
  9. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. — Romans 8:28
  10. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
  11. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. — 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

May God bless you + your spouse all the days of your life!
